Marion Coleman

Representing Alameda County Supervisorial District Four —

Marion Coleman of Castro Valley, is an accomplished textile fiber artist who has exhibited her artwork at major regional and national venues and her work has been featured in numerous publications. Coleman’s artwork was featured in the presidential inaugural exhibition, Quilts for Obama in Washington, D.C.. Additionally, Marion is a member of the Friends of Castro Valley Library and often organizes the library’s display about African American History Month. Marion Coleman is a teaching artist at the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center in San Leandro and at Edna Brewer Middle School in Oakland. She worked with the detained girls at the Juvenile Justice Center who created the Minerva Quilts that are featured on the Alameda County New Beginnings note cards and were presented at the 16th Annual Alameda County Women’s Hall of Fame awards luncheon.
