Representing Alameda County Supervisorial District Four —

Jimi Evins is dedicated to bringing art experiences to the people of Oakland. His work in the East Oakland community has inspired youth of all ages, by providing visual and performing art classes and workshops year round. For twenty years, Mr. Evins has been the Art Director, as well as an Instructor at East Oakland Youth Development Center, an inner city youth development agency which promotes arts education, creative expression, and community involvement. He has taught workshops for the Oakland Museum, the Richmond Art Center, Oakland’s Studio One, and the California Arts Council. As a professional artist, Evins has exhibited at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Arts Commission, the High Museum in Atlanta, Georgia, the Berkeley Art Center, and the California College of the Arts in Oakland.
