Arts Leadership Award Program

Representing Alameda County Supervisorial District Two —

James Petrillo of Oakland, is the founder of California State University East Bay’s Multimedia Graduate Program and the Art Department’s Electronic Arts Program – two new media degree programs which were the first of their kind in the country. He has served as the director of the Multimedia Graduate Program for 14 years and as a professor in the Electronic Arts Program for 18 years. The Electronic Arts Program has graduated approximately 2,000 Bachelors of Arts students and over 200 Masters of Arts students in the past decade and a half. Many students have gone on to have successful careers in new media, cinema animation, and graphic arts.
